The Globe

For this project, I went back in time and made a 20th-century globe to improve my texturing skills and practice using Substance Designer. I love creating old and antique-style props, and this project shows that interest. My main goal was to achieve high-quality renders in a real-time engine, so I used Unreal Engine 5 with Lumen and RTX for the best visual results.

In my idea, this prop can be used by the player instead of a 2D map in the UI, making it feel more realistic. It can also be used to fast travel in the game.

Although I focused on quality over optimization, I saved UV space by using lower texel density on parts that are usually not seen by the player. The textures used are two 4K maps and one 2K map.

This was made for a challenge called Adventure Museum in the Dinusty Empire community. Special thanks to my friends from the Dinusty Empire community for their great feedback and support.
